This site is operated by and for the use of Creekside community (Salem, Oregon) residents as a medium for open community discussion. As the name of the site suggests our primary focus is discussing and promoting the use of renewable energy and sustainable residential practices.
We started in this endeavor during the summer of 2009 after attempting to gain approval of the Creekside HOA to install a photovoltaic solar system. We found that there was a lot of misunderstanding about solar installations and Oregon laws pertaining to solar installations. We felt there is a need for a source of education and discussion of residential solar installations, so we created this website/blog.
During the process of working with the Creekside HOA board to update the home owner’s association architectural review rules and guidelines we noticed that the level of communication in the neighborhood was low and we got feedback from residents on a range of community topics. It has become obvious that everyone in the neighborhood can benefit from open discussions on any topics of community interest. So we’ve expanded the scope of this website to go beyond just renewable energy.
Here is our expanded range of topics we will be covering:
- Continuing coverage local news related to renewable energy.
- We’ve gotten feedback that people are interested in small wind power systems.
- Discussion of sustainable yard maintenance.
- Neighborhood watch news and articles.
- Coverage of HOA board meetings.
